Workshops for Children and Families
In 2018 we ran a series of free family workshops funded by The Arts Council with Newark artist Danusia Sawoscianik-Murray. We are looking forward to working with Danusia in 2019.

Danusia provided a fun and exciting range of workshops using a variety of materials and artistic techniques with themes that were inspired by the museum, art gallery and our Georgian building. Parents and grandparents joined in with the activities too.
These workshops have now ended but check back here for similar events in future. In the meantime, see the gallery below for some of the fabulous work produced at these sessions.

Workshops funded by The Arts Council in 2017-2018 have included:
Making Crowns
Our final workshop of the series in August was a craft activity making crowns
Seaside Painting
In July we used mixed paint and collage to create our exciting seaside artwork
Repeat Patterns
Our June workshop explored repeat patterns with silk painting
Art Gallery
In May our water colour paintings were inspired by works in the Art Gallery
The Mayor and Mace Bearer
Our Easter event was life drawing with mixed of out two civic models!
Exploring Architectural Detail
Our February half term workshop used ink and wax resist to explore architectural detail in the Town Hall's Georgian Ballroom.
Christmas decorations
In December we made lots of decorations, it's definitely more fun to make your own!
Felt Poppies
This session was on 11th November so we got creative with felt to make our own version of remembrance poppies.
Gorgeous Georgians!
Life drawing with a model in full Georgian costume! Approximately 70 people came along to draw through the day. There was only room left on the floor at one point and many of the parents joined in. There was a terrific buzz all day and the model was amazing.
Newark's Little House
Sometimes called the Thinnest House, it's right next door to the Town Hall and we used water colour to create some beautiful illustrations.
